IT Departments and Microsoft Access ~ Developers Have Their Say
|
||
| Last month I
asked you, the readers for input into "What can IT Departments do to
improve their support of Access databases". The response was fabulous as
many obviously seasoned developers described their experiences and came
up with solutions to this phenomenon / problem. Please have a read and
even better, send your IT manager to have a read as well. |

Adding a Decent Tick to Your Access Report |
||
| If you want a
tick (or an empty box) in a report that doesn't look as quirky as a
check box, its time to add a new field to your query and use the Chr()
function. Then add that new field to the report and assign the data
control the WindDings font. See how it looks. |

Processing SWREG Order Emails in Access and Outlook |
||
| For many years
now we have used the DigiBuy Credit Card processing site run by Digital
River to handle most of our online orders. Well at the end of November,
Digibuy is closing down. Now we have been moved to a cheaper and very
similar site also run by Digital River called SWREG.org. Anyway as a
consequence, I have adjust our Digibuy order reading software to work
with the SWREG emails. As the two emails were similar, this only took an
hour or so. Read the article that I have prepared on this topic.

Repair Damaged Access
Databases |
||
| vb123.com
offers an online repair system for Access databases. Included in the
latest version is the option to only repair tables rather than fix the
whole database. This reduces the cost of exercise. The system is setup
so that your data is encrypted before it is transmitted and in most
cases, you should be able to recover a corrupt database in less than 30
minutes elapsed time. "I know that it works because we use it from time
to time." Garry |

Reporting Monthly Data in a Yearly Range Without Code |
||
| Luke Chung
from FMS writes a detailed paper on how to store and then report monthly
data without using any code. I like to use iif statements to tackle
these sorts of problems but I learnt a bit from this article.
